Mysterious East is an elemental collection created by UTE, inspired by the journey of China in 2022.
During this journey, I enjoyed the magnificent natural scenery, rich and diverse culture. The idea of incorporating these elements and cultures into designs came to me.
The lacquer craft was discovered on a craft market in Jingdezhen， which is famous for its ceramics, with more than 1,700 years, as well as an early production base for imperial porcelain. For this reason, there is a large concentration of artists and craftsmen there.
When I learned that lacquer craft is a millennia-old surface treatment, I knew that this was the element of the mysterious East that I was looking for.
